Season over for Joe Ingles | NBA

Already deprived of Rudy Gobert (calf) and Donovan Mitchell (head shock), the Jazz lived a nightmarish evening in Minnesota when, at the end of the second quarter, it was veteran Joe Ingles who collapsed after a left knee injury.

As with any non-contact injury, it was obviously very worrying, especially for a 34-year-old coming out of an Olympic summer with Australia’s first international medal. Unfortunately, the MRI delivered his diagnosis: rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee.

According to ESPN, the Australian will be operated on within 15 days, and his season is already over. As he is at the end of his contract, it is not certain that we will see him again at the Jazz, or even in the NBA next season.

At Utah for eight seasons, Ingles is one of the team’s executives, with 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists this season. If his impact has gradually diminished in recent years, especially in defense with declining physical qualities, he was still one of the serious candidates for the title of best sixth man last season…

Jazz players demoralized

« It’s not even about basketball reacts Rudy Gay. ” Just the fact that he is in the locker room does us good. He’s our guy! »

Same story with Mike Conley, very affected. “Seeing Joe at halftime pissed off a lot of our guys. It was hard to see him cry, and to be in so much pain. We know how important it is to him. All we could tell him was that we love him and he should hold his head up high. »

Currently in a bad patch with 8 defeats in its last 10 games, Utah did not need that… As it stands, the Jazz has two places in its workforce, but the leaders can no longer benefit from an envelope to recruit .
