Look at the bullshit! Ubisoft Says Its Fans Didn’t Understand the NFT Concept

With the NFTs generating more and more debates and discussions, Ubisoft decided to jump headfirst into a new controversy involving the subject. After launching Quartz, an NFT platform for its games, the French giant has now decided to say that its fans did not understand the concept of the NFT.

The platform, which was created to host NFTs of Ubisoft’s main games, was not well received by the public, including with the NFTs of games like Ghost Recon showing shameful numbers for the company, with a performance that can be considered a failure.

Ubisoft Says Fans Didn’t Understand NFT Concept

After the controversy involving Quartz, Nicholas Pouard, vice president of the Strategic Innovations Lab at Ubisoft, gave an interview to Finder, a famous Australian financial website, stating that fans do not understand the concept of the NFT and in what ways this market can be fruitful.

“I think gamers don’t understand what a digital secondary market can bring to them”

Pouard further said that people believe NFTs are just destroying the planet and are a tool for speculation, but they actually offer an opportunity for players. The vice president argues that the idea of reselling his ingame items is a very interesting possibility for the public.

“It’s really for them. It’s really beneficial. But they don’t understand yet.”

Finally, Nicolas Pouard stated that NFTs are a paradigm shift in games, stating that he understands that it takes some time for people to change their mindset about it.

“Also, this is part of a paradigm shift in gaming. Moving from one economic system to another is not easy to deal with. There are a lot of habits you have to face and a lot of your ingrained mindset that you have to change. It takes time. We know that.”

NFTs in more Ubisoft games

During the interview, Nicolas Pouard also revealed that teams from each Ubisoft project will decide whether their games will also jump on the bandwagon of NFTs, with the future still uncertain with regard to major franchises entering this market.

Currently, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is the title that is using the Quartz platform to offer NFTs to players. There are some requirements such as the requirement to have several specific hours of play so that the player can acquire some of the items, which is considered a useful measure to ward off speculators.
