Nubank Celular Seguro: see how it will work

THE Nubank confirmed that it is preparing cell phone insurance with coverage against theft and robbery. Some customers of the digital bank reported that they received an email notifying them of the news and plan options. In the best category, the insured will have 24-hour protection, including against accidental damage to the cell phone.

The new service offered by Nubank will be called “Nubank Cellular Secure”. In addition to this product, fintech also offers life insurance, where the contracted amount can reach R$ 150 thousand in case of accidents. But don’t be alarmed, as the average starting price is just R$9. In the most basic life insurance plan, financial protection and funeral assistance are offered in the event of the insured’s death.

The secure Nubank Celular service will have financing options through the digital bank app. One of them will protect the cell phone when traveling abroad, with the right to a replacement cell phone. Nubank said in a note that it is developing this feature in partnership with an insurance company, but it was not revealed which one.

Currently, Nubank’s cell phone insurance is in the testing phase and may change over time, according to the company. The fintech says it will open an “interest list” in its service channels to “expand the availability of Nubank Celular Seguro to the entire customer base as soon as the testing stage is completed.”

How will it work?

The plans will offer coverage for different situations, from simple cases like a broken screen or water damage, to more complex cases like theft and theft. Like any insurance company, Nubank service will be offered 24 hours a day.

The Nubank Celular Seguro policy will be carried out in partnership with Chubb, a multinational insurance company, with a term of validity of 1 year. The insured must pay the deductible, depending on the phone model and coverage selected at the time of subscription.

Payments must be made monthly, and customers can choose to pay with an automatic discount using Nubank’s own credit card or digital bank account.

Launch and availability

Unfortunately Nubank did not reveal when it will launch the insurance for cell phones. However, the company says it has plans to open its own phone carrier so that its customers can access its app without going through a third-party service.

This Tuesday, February 1st, fintech made an early registration link available, with access gradually being released in the coming weeks.
