Rob Gronkowski also leaves the farewell open

Munich/Tampa Bay – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could lose not only Tom Brady but also tight end Rob Gronkowski after this season.

The day after the Bucs’ dramatic playoff exit in the divisional round against the Los Angeles Rams, Gronkowski revealed his whereabouts at a press conference.

“I will do what is best for me in the world of football. That will be a decision based on how I see things in a few weeks,” Gronkowski said. One day after such an emotional end of the season, the 32-year-old said he couldn’t make a decision.

Gronk whereabouts an option even without Brady

ESPN previously reported that 44-year-old Tom Brady could end his career. At the Buccaneers, the topic has been present for several days. Brady himself left his decision open immediately after the game: “I haven’t thought about it much yet. We’ll see where we stand from day to day.”

Although Gronkowski once vowed never to play with any quarterback other than Tom Brady, “Gronk’s” whereabouts are conceivable even if his longtime teammate leaves: “I will never completely rule anything out.” The team in Tampa is one of the best and most special that he has experienced in his career.

Gronkowski’s contract with the Buccaneers actually runs until the end of the 2025 season. In the coming season he would charge the franchise’s cap hit with five million dollars.

Gronkowski has resigned before

Gronkowski played with Brady for the New England Patriots from 2010 to the end of the 2018 season before announcing his retirement in March 2019 at the age of 29 despite the current contract. About a year later he announced his resignation, followed Brady to the Buccaneers and won the Super Bowl with them.

Gronkowski was also one of the Bucs’ top performers in the past regular season with 802 receiving yards and six touchdowns. In the playoff loss against the Rams, he caught four passes for 85 yards.
