Anton Forsberg muselle les Blue Jackets

The Ottawa Senators and goaltender Anton Forsberg withstood numerous attacks from the Blue Jackets late in the game to win 2-1 on Sunday in Columbus.

The Swedish masked man was sparkling in front of the cage of Sense, with 35 saves on 36 throws. It’s the seventh win this season for the former seventh-round pick… of the Blue Jackets.

Senators star Tim Stützle, who is having a tough second season on the Bettman circuit, scored the game-winning goal late in the second period with a spectacular move. After crossing the enemy zone, ignoring the defenders of the Jackets, the German served a spectacular fake to Elvis Merzlikins to find the back of the net.

Artem Zub scored the Senators’ other goal, ending a three-game losing streak. The Russian defender’s point shot made its way between the players of the Jackets and Sense obstructing Merzlikins’ view to open scoring.

Sean Kuraly retaliated for the Ohio team by completing a superb tic-tac-toe started by Zach Werenski and Jakub Voracek, seconds from the end of the first period.

The Blue Jackets, fifth in the Metropolitan Division, have not won two consecutive games since November 26. They will host the Calgary Flames next Wednesday.

With this victory, the Senators now have a four-point advantage over the Montreal Canadiens and last place in the Atlantic Division, with five games in hand. They will face the Buffalo Sabers on Tuesday.
