With confinement and social distancing on the holiday menu, Zoom has decided to make its contribution to the festivities by removing the time limit for video calls. But on certain dates only.
For many, 2020 will usher in a new type of Christmas meal, one around the screen and at a distance, confinement and social distancing being on the menu for many.
Aware of its strength since the spring with the confinement of half the planet and the increase in teleworking, Zoom now knows itself to be essential. Which imposes duties as much as it gives advantages. So the videoconferencing service distributed its gifts ahead of time.
The family meal without limits, but on video
For the holidays, Zoom has decided to lift the 40-minute limit on video calls for free accounts. And this, from today in order to make its users benefit from the opportunity for Hanukkah, Christmas or the New Year.
However, you are not going to be able to take advantage of it all the time, as Zoom is also a paid service for businesses.
Here are the time slots:
- From Thursday December 17 at 4 p.m. (Paris time) to Saturday December 19 at 12 p.m.
- From Wednesday 23 December 4 p.m. to Saturday 26 December 12 noon
- From Wednesday 30 December 4 p.m. to Saturday 2 January 2021 12 noon.
You don’t have to do anything in particular except call your loved ones (and possibly do the last update). The limit will be disabled on smartphones, tablets, PCs or Macs.
