you will soon be able to play for free online on free-to-play

It is still in beta, and for a few more weeks, but its launch is approaching. The update, which will bring both free multiplayer for free-to-play titles, group search and access to group chat, comes a little closer to its deployment.

Not for now, but for soon. That’s basically what Microsoft tells us in a tweet shared on March 29. The company explains that the update that will simultaneously unlock free multiplayer on Xbox for titles in free-to-play, but also the possibility of searching for groups (Looking 4 Groups feature), or even accessing group chat, is on the way. The latter has just passed one more step in the highly formal process of the Insider program, which allows it to get closer to its large-scale deployment, notes MSPowerUser.

These few features, which are still reserved for Xbox Live Gold subscribers today, were first introduced to Insiders eligible for the Alpha Skip Ahead and Alpha programs. They are now open to members with beta access.

Still a little patience…

The fact remains that while this update is progressing in its validation process, it is not yet quite ready to be launched on a large scale. For players who are not members of the Insider program, it will therefore be necessary to wait a little longer. In the immediate future, Microsoft’s announcement therefore means that this novelty is simply open to more testers.

Attention Beta #XboxInsiders! Today we’re enabling Multiplayer in Free-to-play games, Looking for Groups and Party Chat on Xbox no longer requiring an Xbox Live Gold membership as we flight and test these service changes ahead of general availability.

To reach the general public, the free multiplayer for free-to-play, the Looking 4 Groups function and access to group chat must still pass two additional levels of validation: Delta and Omega. The first is the one to keep in mind since it involves an additional month of delays. Logically, Microsoft will be ready to deploy its update within a few weeks on our Xbox … except major problem involving a delay in delivery.
