Video games and smartphones are increasingly united. To make the experience of a game even faster, Xiaomi has decided to move a function that was already used on computers, but that until now was not known on phones. When installing a video game on a device, the most normal thing is that it is stored in the internal memory, that is, the ROM. But there is a somewhat unknown function that allows, on computers, to download the game into RAM, which has certain advantages for the player. This function is known as RAMDISK and Xiaomi has announced that for the first time it will be available on a mobile phone, specifically, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra. This model is one of the jewels in the Xiaomi catalog, but at the moment it is not available in Spain, we hope it arrives soon and we can put this function to the test. To use RAMDISK you need a device that has a large memory capacity. In the case of the Mi 10 Ultra, it reaches up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. Scientists have managed to create much more efficient storage units that will allow us to store much more information but in smaller spaces on hard drives. By downloading the game to RAM, the download speed is multiplied and the game experience is faster and smoother. According to the company’s data, this quality allows to increase the download speed and the execution between 40 and 60%, respectively. However, it has some drawbacks. If we download the game to RAM, when we turn off the phone or use other applications, the game will disappear from the phone. This is how RAM works, nothing is permanent, only what is in use at the time. In order not to lose the game, Xiaomi has established that the game can be transferred from RAM to ROM and thus kept. For now, the function will only be activated in the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra as indicated by Gizmochina, but it is not ruled out that RAMDISK ends up reaching other terminals with a lot of memory. It all depends on the success of this tool.
