Xiaomi plays Formula 1 with a Mercedes-stamped Pro 2

As part of its conference dedicated to the Mi 11, Xiaomi has unveiled a new version of its Pro 2 electric scooter. Responding to the sweet name of Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Edition (to your wishes), this model borrows above all the aesthetic codes of the German team.

Xiaomi had given us an appointment on February 8, 2021 to attend its international conference dedicated to its new, freshly presented Xiaomi Mi 11 flagship. Star of the event, this high-end smartphone was not the only one to benefit from a media spotlight. Its Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 electric scooter also had its heyday – as well as the Mi TV Q1 75 ″.

Here Xiaomi does not present a brand new and better performing new variant. The brand has simply declined its Pro 2 in an F1 type declination by borrowing the aesthetic codes of the Mercedes team. Hence the extended name Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Edition.

Mercedes, a rewarding image

The reigning champion team’s single-seaters feature a two-tone colourway, silver on one side and teal on the other. Although in 2020, the “Silver Arrows” were adorned in black all season in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. They will also keep this color in 2021.

The Pro 2 Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Edition is therefore openly inspired by it. Xiaomi is also not associating itself with such a big name in F1 by chance, Mercedes having gleaned a seventh consecutive title last year by masterfully dominating a one-sided championship. Success and prestige characterize the German team.

Same autonomy, same power

The scooter therefore sports a branding AMG at the rear, but takes the technical characteristics of the Pro 2: 300 W motor, top speed of 25 km / h and range of 45 km, although our test estimated it more at 30 km. The group also mentions a dual braking system, impact resistant tires, an integrated display and a folding system. In short, nothing changes.

Xiaomi announces a price of 799 euros for this scooter with sales starting ” soon ».
