What do you think of the Xiaomi Mi Air Charge?

With its Mi Air Charge, Xiaomi offers the first remote charge capable of restoring energy to one or more devices simultaneously. Did this innovative system caught your eye? That’s the whole point of our survey this week.

On Friday, January 29, Xiaomi presented an innovative wireless charging … truly wireless. Until then, chargers taking advantage of this name used a subterfuge materialized by a charging base on which the phone rested. As we wrote in our dedicated article, this type of system is more of a contactless than wireless charging.

But with its Xiaomi Mi Air Charge, the Chinese group is completely changing the situation: the user is able to charge their smartphone remotely. Highlight: the system would even be able to supply energy to several devices simultaneously, such as two phones or a mobile device and a tablet, for example.

The power of this remote load does not reach the peaks: 5W. To function, it detects the smartphone thanks to five integrated antennas which transmit very high frequency millimeter waves (30 to 300 GHz) using 144 antennas. The terminal then converts them into energy using a “beacon” antenna.

Xiaomi has not communicated any launch date. But it’s a safe bet that the brand will deploy this Mi Air Charge in the more or less near future with regard to the video teasing published.
