The recently officialized Vivo V21 5G emphasizes its front camera, with a 44 megapixel sensor. Something to delight users of TikTok or other social networks fond of selfies.
Vivo hopes to carve out a place of choice ” among 15-35 year olds With its Vivo V21 5G cut out for videos and photos taken with a selfie camera. With such a goal, special efforts have been made on the front camera – and the brand is used to innovating. The latter has a 44 megapixel sensor. A consistent definition, especially for the mid-range.
But the Chinese brand did not stop there. If we take a photo with the flash activated, we quickly realize the presence of two front double LEDs, located on each side of the lens.
This should theoretically reduce the presence of shadow in a photo, much like a light ring might – a popular prop on TikTok. The front camera also benefits from optical and digital stabilization, autofocus with eye tracking, and is also capable of filming in 4K. Note also the presence of a night mode that we were not able to test.
Tested in broad daylight, we haven’t had the chance to see the feats of which these dual LEDs are capable, but their integration blends perfectly with the rest of the design.
During this quick grip, the design of the Vivo V21 seemed rather attractive to us. Already its finesse (7.29 mm thick) and its reduced weight (176 grams) allow it to be handled with ease, despite its 6.44-inch screen. It also benefits from an AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and HDR 10 and 10+ certified.
Two very different colors
Another good point: one of the two colors, the flaming blue which gives a rainbow effect which we found quite nice. Note that it did not seem to take too much fingerprints. Another matte black color is also available for those allergic to bright colors.
Even if great efforts have been put on the front sensor, the rear camera unit has a configuration that is intended to be attractive: a main sensor of 64 megapixels, an ultra wide-angle of 8 megapixels and a sensor with a macro lens of 2 megapixels.
On the performance side, we can count on a MediaTek Dimensity 800U, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, with the possibility of adding a microSD card up to 1 TB. The 4000 mAh battery does not swear for mid-range , even if you will certainly have to plug in your phone once a day, if you want to avoid running out of fuel.
Vivo V21 price and release date
The Vivo V21 will be available from June 18, 2021 at 419 euros. From June 11 to 18, to celebrate Euro 2020, of which Vivo is a sponsor, the brand will “reimburse” 40 euros for the pre-order of a Vivo V21.
