First images of the Volkswagen ID.6 electric SUV have leaked in China. The opportunity to take a look at its probably final design, which however lacks modernism compared to its source of inspiration, the ID concept. ROOMZZ.
The flagship of Volkswagen’s electric range, the ID fleet. Today has two members in its ranks: the already very convincing ID.3, accompanied by the electric SUV ID.4 officially unveiled in September 2020. To this pair will be added the Volkswagen ID.6, whose first images have been leaked in China then on Reddit. Everything was relayed by the specialized site Electrek.
A slightly modern front panel
Based on the MEB platform and derived from the ID concept. ROOMZZ unveiled in 2019, the Volkswagen ID.6 is halfway between an SUV and a minivan. However, the photos appearing on the Web are not very flattering compared to the aesthetic lines of the ID. ROOMZZ (photos below). The front of the vehicle lacks modernism, and does not stand out aesthetically compared to the competition already very present in this segment.
At this stage, no technical specification has been published by the manufacturer. The ID.6 could however inherit the characteristics of the ID.ROOMZZ, which would claim for example a power of 225 kW (306 hp) and a range of 450 kilometers (WLTP cycle) thanks to an 82 kWh battery.
Probably not before 2022
It was also a question of compatibility with a fast charge of up to 150 kW in order to recover 80% of energy in the space of only thirty minutes. As much information that the German brand will itself have to confirm. According to Caradisiac, the European launch of the Volkswagen ID.6 is not expected before 2022.
