At first glance, the Samsung Odyssey G7 and G9 monitors adopt a rather sober design, with a thin bezel and discreet bezels. If the G7 is available in a black color, the G9 screen has a white back. But both welcome a circle of light on the back for a futuristic touch.
The Samsung Odyssey G7 and G9 monitors both have a VA QLED panel, with WQHD definition (2560 x 1440 pixels). Thanks to QLED, the colors will be very vivid and the contrasts very clear. In short, it is the assurance of games with ever more realistic graphics, coupled with excellent image quality.
This panel also offers a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a response rate of 1 ms, which will, on paper, be simply excellent for smooth gaming sessions without any slowdown in the images. However, monitors do not have HDMI 2.1, and neither DisplayPort nor HDMI 2.0 will be able to serve the maximum resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels at 240 Hz.
However, we will largely console ourselves with the main strength of the G7 and G9: this curvature of 1000R, which is actually optimal for a PC screen, knowing that the human eye has a range of approximately… 1000R. Concretely, these curved screens will ensure a very good immersion during your games or even watching series and films. The curvature will fill your peripheral vision, in short. Whether you choose a 27 inch, 32 inch, or even 49 inch diagonal, the result will be impressive.
Note also that these monitors are compatible with AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync, gaming screen requires: these technologies will allow screens to synchronize their refresh rate with the frame rate in play to obtain a better rendering without any lag.
