There is no perfect formula for buying the right TV, especially when you want to buy it at the best price. If you want to change your TV this year, here are three offers that should interest you.
OLED or LED or QLED? The big question you are asking yourself is to change your TV. Buying a new television can be particularly stressful for a number of reasons. There is a terrifying amount of jargon to go through, with little real information on what features actually lead to a better experience.
If you ask the Frandroid editorial staff, we will be much more easily seduced by the OLED. We also have a buying guide dedicated to this technology. OLED is generally considered the more premium of the two technologies, not least because in most cases it is much more expensive. As this technology does not use a backlight, each pixel is able to produce its own light or to go out completely. This gives the OLED screens really impressive black levels, which brings a great feeling of depth. Additionally, viewing angles on OLED TVs are excellent.
What’s also good about OLEDs is that virtually every model on the market, regardless of manufacturer, uses the same LG Display panels. This means that the picture quality is always good no matter which manufacturer OLED TV you buy. The image quality is not the same, of course, but unless terms like “upscaling” and “motion management” mean something to you, you are unlikely to care too much about the distinctions. . The level is generally very high for OLEDs.
We have therefore selected the three most interesting OLED TV offers of the moment, all with a diagonal of 55 inches.
LG CX 2020
The LG CX is arguably the best known and most popular OLED TV. It is equipped with a 55-inch panel and an LG Alpha 9 Gen 3 image processor which does wonders in image processing. Of course, there is HDR and Dolby Vision compatibility, but also G-Sync / FreeSync and HDMI 2.1 compatibility (up to 4K @ 120 frames per second on compatible devices) for an improved gaming experience. It is also compatible with AirPlay 2 and has many SVOD or music streaming applications in the LG Content Store that will allow you to watch a great deal of content in Dolby Vision. In short, a safe bet with almost no flaws. To find out more, visit our LG CX review.
It is currently available on Cdiscount at 1,399 euros instead of 1,999.
There is also a model at Sony. We tested it a little earlier in the year in a 65-inch version, here is the 55-inch version on sale. The Sony A8 is a Dolby Vision compatible 4K OLED smart TV that integrates 4 speakers with a total power of 30 W, Dolby Atmos compatible. Google Play, Alexa and AirPlay are in the game as well as the Android operating system.
The image quality is excellent, the audio part is neat, the ease of use in general is there …
Find the Sony KD-65A8 at 1,500 euros in several brands:
The Philips 55OLED854, we had tested a very similar model, is a 55-inch TV that uses the same OLED panel as its competitors LG and Sony. This model is distinguished by the Ambilight lighting system, its powerful P5 processor, a rotating stand and the presence of Android TV.
For 1199 euros, this is the opportunity to take advantage of a 2019 model very well armed for 2020. It was a product of 2000 euros when it was released.
Black Friday – Black Week: all you need to know
Let’s be honest: Black Friday dates are pretty confusing this year. Originally scheduled for November 27 and usually preceded by Black Week, it spans a wider period this year. Each e-merchant and brands communicate about the event in their own way, but come together on activations of joint offers during dates agreed in advance: it is these that we consider to be the Black Friday offers. Also note that some merchants may postpone offers on Cyber Monday week.
Throughout the period, the Frandroid team will select the best good deals available through different selections:
