The Realme X50 on sale is one of the cheapest 5G smartphones around

The Realme X50 shares a lot in common with its competitors, except its price. It is currently available in promotion at Boulanger, Fnac or Darty (your choice) and goes from 379 to only 279 euros.

Opposite the excellent OnePlus Nord, there is the Realme X50. This is a smartphone that offers roughly the same technical sheet as its competitor, but for a much more interesting price. Judge for yourself with this reduction of 100 euros which puts it under 300 euros by becoming, at the same time, one of the cheapest 5G smartphones at the moment.

In short

  • The power of the Snapdragon 765G
  • The 6.57-inch Full HD + display at 120 Hz
  • The good autonomy and efficiency of fast charging

Instead of 379 euros, the 5G compatible Realme X50 is now available in promotion at only 279 euros on Boulanger, at Fnac and at Darty.

Realme X50 5G

We could confuse Realme X50 with its Pro model as they both look alike. We find generally the same rounded corner shapes with the same arrangement for the punch in the screen (top left) which hides two cameras for selfies. But the similarities end there since they do not have the same technical sheet.

To continue in the comparison, we will instead take the example of OnePlus North, its direct competitor. If the OnePlus smartphone is equipped with an AMOLED screen, that of Realme must be satisfied with an IPS LCD. However, this 6.57-inch panel has the merit of being well calibrated and offering a refresh rate of 120 Hz, against 90 Hz for its rival. It is also a rather rare element in the mid-range.

Both are equipped with the Snapdragon 765G with 8 GB of RAM to ensure high performance. As we often say, Qualcomm Series 7 has nothing to envy premium chips as it brings enough power to meet all needs, even with 3D games.

The photo module is then a little similar to the back, where the X50 offers a suite of four 48 + 8 + 2 + 2 megapixel sensors while the Nord will offer a 48 + 8 + 5 + 2 megapixel combo. The two smartphones provide great versatility (portrait mode, ultra wide-angle and even macro) with an honorable quality of shots in good light conditions, but it is clear that the result is less convincing after dark. If you want a good photophone for less than 400 euros, you will have to go for the Pixel 4a.

However, it differs from the OnePlus Nord with a larger battery, 4,200 mAh against 4,115. The difference is minimal, but it is doing very well, even in 120 Hz mode where it managed to hold for 44 hours, including 6:39 am with the screen on. It is then easy to go even further by switching to 60 Hz mode to conserve energy. In addition, its fast charge up to 30 W is very efficient since it offers the possibility of going from 10 to 64% in 30 minutes and finally goes up to 100% 28 minutes later.
