He will soon be able to pay for his new Tesla car in Bitcoin. But will the price of Model 3 be as volatile as Bitcoin? After a significant drop in Model 3 prices on January 20, there has been another notable change.
As you have certainly noted if the Model 3 interests you, the price of the entry of the SR + range (Standard Autonomy Plus) has fallen by 6,000 euros since Wednesday, January 20, 2021, which has made it possible to position this model below 45,000 euros.
This price drop had several consequences. The first to strongly irritate recent Model 3 buyers who could not benefit from this discount, it lowers the reference rating of used Model 3. Another consequence, happy this time, is that this decrease allows new buyers to benefit from the ecological bonus of 7,000 euros instead of 3,000 previously on the basic model.
A new price change
20 days after this price reduction, the entry ticket now of 36,800 euros is certainly the engine of a strong increase in sales of the Model 3 in France. However, you will have to be attentive to your final bill depending on the options you have chosen.
If you choose the tow bar, you will now have a bad surprise. As a reminder, European regulations oblige to install this option in the factory on new models. It is therefore impossible to benefit from it if you have already received a Model 3.
This option has gone from 1,050 euros to 1,350 euros in recent days. 300… that’s not much, but henceforth you will no longer be able to benefit from the 7,000 euros ecological bonus but only 3,000 euros. The SR + model without a towing hook ultimately costs you 36,800 euros including tax, against 42,150 euros including tax with the option. The towing hook at 5,350 euros… it’s not necessarily a good plan.
Why did you increase the price of this option? This is a new towing hook capable of towing 1000 kg against 750 for the old ones. Contrary to what one might imagine with electric cars, there are few models capable of towing a trailer. It is not the regulation which prohibits installing a coupling on an electric vehicle to tow a trailer.
The manufacturer simply has to homologate his vehicle, but the specificity of the architecture of these vehicles – location and weight of the battery in particular – sometimes makes the installation of a coupling impossible or greatly reduces the towing capacity. The Model 3 is therefore one of the few electric cars that can tow trailers.
