Samsung has officially unveiled its new true wireless noise canceling headphones, the Galaxy Buds Pro. For the occasion, the manufacturer intends to offer an active noise reduction at the height of the competition.
This Thursday, in addition to its new Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra, Samsung also officially presented its new true wireless active noise canceling headphones, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro.
It must be said that the announcement had been expected for several weeks and that it was finally nothing of a surprise given the many leaks about headphones. Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy Buds Pro are therefore the successors of both the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus, launched a year ago and designed with an in-ear format, but also the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live for active noise reduction.
Samsung has integrated two transducers on each of its headphones. There is thus a 6.5 mm transducer dedicated to treble and a second 11 mm for bass. Samsung has not communicated on the supported Bluetooth audio codecs, but it’s safe to assume that like the Galaxy Buds Live, the headphones will be limited to AAC and SBC. The Korean manufacturer is indeed not familiar with aptX and LDAC codecs on its true wireless headphones.
Samsung retries its luck on noise reduction
The main advantage of the Galaxy Buds Pro, however, seems to be their active noise reduction. It must be said that with an in-ear format already offering passive isolation, the headphones will have less trouble filtering out ambient noise than the Galaxy Buds Live. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Buds Pro would be able to remove « 99 % » ambient noise.
The intensity of the noise reduction can also be managed on the app, while an intelligent ANC mode will automatically switch between ambient mode and noise reduction when chatting with someone.
Note also that the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro can connect to two devices at the same time … provided they are Samsung devices. It will thus be possible to watch a film on a tablet, then answer the phone while keeping the headphones on, before returning to the film once the call is over.
On the autonomy side, Samsung announces a total of 18 hours with noise reduction activated, thanks to the recharging of the case. For this, the headphones are equipped with 61 mAh batteries while the case offers a 472 mAh accumulator. Note also that the headphones are IPX7 certified and are therefore resistant to rain, sweat, splashes and even immersion to one meter for thirty minutes.
Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro pricing and availability
Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro will be commercially available from January 29. They will be available in three colors: black, white or purple. As for the price, the headphones will be offered at 229.90 euros in France.
