As expected, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T has just been made official. This aggressively priced new product has one key argument: it wants to be the most affordable 5G smartphone. Here is everything you need to know about it.
We have barely entered the year 2021 that Xiaomi is already drawing a product that should interest more than one: the Redmi Note 9T. Successor of the Redmi Note 9 of 2020, this new device has a strong argument. He presents himself as being “the cheapest 5G smartphone on the market ».
The idea of the manufacturer here is to concede some moderate compromises in order to be able to offer a smartphone compatible with the 5G network and at a very aggressive price. Note two interesting things:
- the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T can accommodate two 5G SIMs at the same time, which is still rare in the market today;
- the smartphone takes advantage of 4 × 4 MIMO technology with antennas in each angle to optimize the connection.
All you have to do is find the 5G package that suits you.
A textured back for a little more comfort
For the rest of the characteristics, other elements deserve to be highlighted. On the design side in particular, Xiaomi ensures that the plastic surface that covers the back of Redmi Note 9T benefits from a special treatment to offer a textured effect to the touch, but also better grip while more effectively avoiding fingerprints.
The owner’s tour continues without major surprises in this price segment: the screen is hit with a bubble in the upper left corner to house the selfie sensor and is framed by fairly thick borders. On the back, we find three photo sensors and an LED flash in a module with a design inspired by what we find on the Mi 10T Lite (a circle topped by a rectangle with rounded sides).
The fingerprint reader is located on the right side of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T, while the USB-C port is next to the 3.5mm jack on the bottom edge. Note also that the LCD screen offers a diagonal of 6.53 inches with a definition Full HD +. This is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
For the dimensions, count on 162 x 77.3 x 9.1 mm for 199 grams. Good to know: the Redmi Note 9T is adorned with two stereo speakers.
A MediaTek chip that promises
Inside the Redmi Note 9T, there is a MediaTek SoC: the Dimensity 800U. This allows the smartphone to be “up to 100% faster»Than the Redmi Note 8. The performance of the GPU (Mali-G57) has also been optimized. There is also 4 GB of RAM on the phone.
This Dimensity 800U is not yet well known in Europe, but we should certainly find it on more products over the weeks and months to come. Its 7 nanometer engraving allows for better energy efficiency. Associated with a large 5000 mAh battery, this SoC should therefore offer a good autonomy to the Redmi Note 9T.
The smartphone is compatible with fast charging at 18 W, however, it is a 22.5 W block that we find in the box. Also note that you can count on storage in UFS 2.2.
For the photo part, Xiaomi skipped the ultra wide-angle. The rear configuration therefore looks like this:
- 48 megapixel main sensor (f / 1.79);
- sensor with 2 megapixel macro lens;
- 2 megapixel depth sensor.
The front photo sensor, for its part, offers a definition of 13 megapixels.
