the affordable smartphone arrives, but first in India

The presentation of a more affordable OnePlus 9R at the same time as the flagships OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro is already confirmed by the boss of the brand Pete Lau.

The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will soon be presented. The closer we get to the fateful date, the more the brand disseminates information here and there to stir up interest around its smartphones. Latest announcement: a OnePlus 9R does exist to offer a cheaper alternative to the two flagships.

Remember, we first heard about this smartphone thinking it would be called OnePlus 9 Lite, but the leaker Evan Blass recently revealed that the product will ultimately be called OnePlus 9R.

A launch in India

However, in an interview with the media News18, the co-founder and boss of the brand, Pete Lau, clearly mentioned this OnePlus 9R.

In addition to the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, we are excited to launch the OnePlus 9R in India. We are focused on expanding our smartphone offering to meet different user needs with the OnePlus 9R […] at a more affordable price.

Two things should be remembered in this statement. The OnePlus 9R will indeed be cheaper and it will be reserved for the Indian market, at least at the time of its launch.

There is a chance that Europe and France will be concerned in their turn in a second step. Or maybe the device will see the light of day from home via the OnePlus North range.

Lots of promises

Pete Lau explains that the OnePlus 9R will allow his company to offer a good balance between cutting-edge technology and an accessible smartphone, while promising that this device will be very suitable for mobile gaming.

So many promises, but the businessman does not reveal any technical information about the OnePlus 9R. We will have to wait for the presentation on March 23 to find out more.
