Last summer, Sony marketed its Xperia 1 II at a particularly high price compared to the competition. But today, the amount of the invoice is fortunately not as high as before since this premium smartphone falls to 899 euros at most e-merchants.
Sony is already on the way to bring us soon its next Xperia 1 III, which would be equipped with a 4K 120 Hz OLED screen and an innovative telephoto lens. But as usual with the Japanese manufacturer, it announces its new smartphones a little too early, since the release is scheduled for summer 2021. In the meantime, we are offering you a good deal for the current high-end smartphone from the firm : 300 euros reduction on the Xperia 1 II.

For its Xperia 1 II, Sony uses the atypical design of its predecessor and therefore retains the elongated 21: 9 aspect ratio of the screen. The latter is still a diagonal of 6.5 inches and of very good quality, since OLED displaying an Ultra HD definition, that is to say 3840 x 1644 pixels. On the other hand, we can regret the absence of a refresh rate above the classic 60 Hz for better fluidity on a daily basis.
The other particularity of Xperia smartphones is the photo. For us, they are not the best photophones on the market, but they have the particularity of offering many features and offer the possibility of switching to manual mode to adjust the ISO yourself, for example, like on a real camera therefore. Otherwise, its 12-megapixel triple sensor provides decent results in most situations, not to mention the good versatility thanks to the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses, as well as the telephoto lens.
Regarding the raw performance of the phone, the Xperia 1 II has the same chip as most of the high-end smartphones of the 2020 batch, namely the very good Snapdragon 865 compatible 5G. With 8 GB of RAM, this configuration is able to meet all the uses you can have of a smartphone today, whether it is for playing with beautiful graphics, browsing the interface and the Internet without slowing down or even use greedy video editing apps.
The user experience is quite pleasant, since the Sony interface largely resumes that of Google by simply adding a few small features here and there, like the tactile edges on the side of the screen. But all is not without flaws, to name only the fingerprint sensor under the rather capricious screen. It is also a pity that the Japanese firm still does not offer a facial recognition system on its most high-end device.
That being said, the autonomy of the Xperia 1 II is average with its 4000 mAh battery. Allow a day with typical use. But be careful, the percentages can melt like snow in the sun if you watch a long video on the 4K screen, which is very power hungry. However, you can take advantage of wireless charging to recover the battery, or even on the fast charge of 18 W.
