To democratize the connected home, Apple continues to increase partnerships. Somfy’s TaHoma home automation box is now compatible with Homekit to be able to communicate with Siri in particular.
The connected home is on the rise. And among the key players, there is now Apple. More than in the design of products to improve daily life, the American giant has become the facilitating and centralizing system to have in its camp. Somfy understood this well and the French announced compatibility with the HomeKit protocol.
Somfy can now communicate with Siri, Alexa and Google
Since December 1, and through an update, Somfy’s TaHoma box has been compatible with the Apple ecosystem. This is in addition to the partnerships already established to be able to control the brand’s products via Alexa, Google Assistant or the IFTTT protocol. “The ambition of Somfy is to develop new solutions that provide more safety, energy performance and comfort in the home and make them accessible to as many people as possible», Explains the Savoyard company.
Launched in 2018, Somfy’s So Open program is thus enriched by a major player in the management of the brand’s products, in particular openings (roller shutters, vertical or patio awnings, etc.). Just say “Hey Siri, open the bedroom shutters” for everything to automate. Somfy products will thus be able to enter into the management of different scenarios from your iPhone or iPad. But the TaHoma application continues to offer all the features.
Note that compatibility with the Apple ecosystem is only possible with the 2nd generation TaHoma box.
