Decidedly, next year could well be the year of foldable screen smartphones. On the Samsung side, four models would be in preparation for the second half of 2021, according to information from the Korean site ET News.

The economic site reports that the manufacturer would prepare two successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 – potentially called Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 – and two successors to the Galaxy Z Flip – called Galaxy Z Flip 2. What thus offer a fairly varied portfolio of products , both for users who want a tablet that folds vertically as a smartphone or a smartphone that folds horizontally to become more compact in a pocket.

These four models should be 5G compatible, but within each range, there would be different functions and performance. However, it is still unclear what the distinctions between each version will be. We can also expect variations « Ultra » of each model than to models with more or less memory or storage.

Smartphones expected for the second half of 2021

Regarding the schedule, ETNews indicates that the four foldable models will be launched during the second half of 2021, after Samsung tackled the Galaxy S21, expected in January, during the first half of the year. They would thus take the place of the Galaxy Note, the renewal of which should not take place next year. The S-Pen stylus would thus be worn not only on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but also on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. On the other hand, for the scrollable screen smartphone technology, it would be necessary to wait for the following years.

This information supports those of the Taiwanese site The Elec which indicated, at the end of November, that Samsung would prepare five smartphones with foldable screen next year. Moreover, Samsung should not be the only manufacturer to put the turbo on this type of device. We could also see some appear on the side of Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo… and even Google.
