The Ring Video Doorbell 3 connected doorbell has a fairly discreet and versatile design thanks to its small dimensions of 12.65 x 6.17 x 2.21 cm. Above all, it is easy to install, where you simply need to connect it to your Wi-Fi network via the Ring app and finally mount it on the wall. No need to connect it to an existing chime or even connect it to the electricity of your house / apartment like some competitors.
The application available on iOS and Android is also easy to use. It is displayed like a videophone to see your interlocutor when he rings the doorbell, then you have the choice of answering yes or no to trigger the microphone. It’s very convenient remotely, but know that it is also possible to use other products with a screen when you are at home, such as an Echo Show 5 or a Google Nest Hub for example. The Ring doorbell is therefore compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, but unfortunately not Siri.
This model is the most recent and obviously brings improvements compared to its predecessor. The most important of these and undoubtedly the improvement in motion detection for the camera. It is now possible to personalize everything while pre-defining detection zones in order to reduce false notifications on your smartphone or tablet, and thus improve the longevity of the doorbell’s removable battery. Allow 6 to 9 months of autonomy depending on the uses.
That’s not all, since the Ring Video Doorbell 3 also improves its Wi-Fi connectivity. Formerly single band, the doorbell now features dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) to improve compatibility with your network domesticated. Video in Full HD quality at 30 frames per second should then be stable in all cases, even when night vision is activated.
Note that you will have to go through the cloud to save your photos and videos. There is a 30 day trial, but the subscription Cloud Ring Protect then goes to 3 euros per month.
