Three years after its Kiyo webcam, Razer returns with a more successful model, the Razer Kiyo Pro, supposed to adapt to all light conditions.
In the field of webcams, Logitech has been a major player for nearly twenty years. However, in 2017, Razer had a big bang with a rather efficient and lightring webcam, the Razer Kiyo. While calls and video meetings have intensified for a year, it was the right time for the Californian manufacturer to present a more successful model, the Razer Kiyo Pro.
Unlike its predecessor, the Razer Kiyo Pro is not equipped with a light source. It must be said that she does not need it and this is her main strength. The Razer webcam is indeed much more sensitive than its main competitors, the Logitech Streamcam and Logitech Brio. It is equipped with a Sony IMX327 sensor, which we will generally find in night cameras or surveillance equipment. This is equipped with photosites – the cells responsible for capturing each pixel – 2.9 microns per side. However, a larger photosites mean better light capture and better management of dynamic range.
In this area too, Razer claims to have worked hard. The manufacturer has notably integrated an HDR function for its Kiyo Pro. What to avoid the burnt exterior if you ever intend to use the camera against the light, in front of a window for example.
A shooting limited to Full HD at 60 FPS
As for the more classic characteristics of the Razer Kiyo Pro, we will find a field of view at 103 °, which can be reduced, by the software, to 90 or 80 °. The webcam is also capable of shooting footage in 1080p at 60 FPS, integrates autofocus and a USB-C cable (on the camera side) to USB-A (on the PC side). However, you can replace the cable with another if your computer only has USB-C sockets.
The Razer Kiyo Pro is also equipped with two omnidirectional microphones for voice capture. Finally, its foot allows you to attach it to the back of a screen as well as to orient it on a table or even to fix it to a tripod thanks to the integrated screw thread.
The Razer Kiyo Pro is already available from this Tuesday, February 23. It is offered at a price of 209.99 euros in France.
