our selection to choose well

On PC, headphones are good, but speakers are more comfortable. Find our selection of the best speakers for your PC to play quietly or watch video without cutting yourself off from the world.

The headset is generally the perfect companion for PC gamers, especially when a mic is needed for online gaming. But having real speakers is sometimes more practical and above all more comfortable. For example for adventure games that you will end up quietly using the joystick or even simply to watch movies and series on your computer. Here is our selection.

Selection at a glance

Bose Companion 2 Series III: our recommendation

The Companion 2 are Bose’s entry-level PC speakers and are in our opinion the best compromise in the PC speaker field. The first reason for this is a small footprint and a very discreet design. The two speakers will fit perfectly into any interior, while leaving room on your desk.

The counterpart of this small footprint is logical: the Companion 2 does not shine on the bass. A few frequencies will be chewed up at the very bottom of the spectrum. This can be a bit annoying in some cases, although generally speaking you shouldn’t really notice it on a daily basis. Considering their price, they couldn’t work miracles either.

We also appreciate the presence of a potentiometer for the volume at the front, easy to access, as well as a 3.5 mm jack output on the front. This is always handy if you need to keep noise down for one reason or another, especially if you don’t have a front panel audio output on your PC tower. Proposed below 100 euros, the Bose Companion 2 Series III are in our opinion the best choice for PC speakers.

Razer Nommo Chroma: for LED lovers

If you are a gamer and like things full of LEDs, know that Razer offers the Nommo Chroma with therefore RGB LEDs that will be added to your hardware in the Razer’s Chroma ecosystem, such as keyboards and mice. It’s fun for the atmosphere, especially for playing in the dark. They also have the merit of being quite nicely designed and mounted on foot. This makes them more discreet… when the lighting is not on.

Unlike Bose, Razer sound isn’t always very well balanced. It is therefore much more for the lights than for the sound that it is necessary to opt for the Nommo Chroma. Count around 170 euros to get your hands on it which is a bit expensive considering the level of audio. That being said, the RGB lighting gives them an undeniable extra soul.

Audio Engine A2+ : l’option premium

If you are looking to improve the quality of the sound, even if it means spending more, we advise you to turn to the AudioEngine A2 + 60W speakers. In addition to the historically recognized audio quality of the brand, they have the merit of offering Bluetooth, which will allow you to easily enjoy it with your mobile devices as well.

They also have a phono input for a vinyl turntable and a 3.5 inch jack input. In short, it is a pair of multi-purpose speakers which, to complete an already complete picture, embeds a 24-bit DAC to transform your digital signal into an analog signal in the best possible way. On the other hand, it will be necessary to pay the tidy sum of 299 euros to enjoy it.

Why choose Audio Engine A2 +?

  • Audio quality
  • Le DAC 24 Bits
  • Bluetooth and phono input

Logitech Z200: cheap PC speakers

Conversely if you have a limited budget, we recommend that you go to Logitech and its Z200 Speakers. Sold less than 20 euros, do not expect miracles in terms of sound. On the other hand, they will work very well as a back-up solution when you don’t want to wear your helmet. Note that they also have a 3.5mm jack input and output.

Small joke, with a bass adjustment wheel, but again, with such small speakers, it will serve to reduce them rather than increase them. Both speakers deliver 10W peak power. In other words, you will not shake the walls. The Z200 are also available in a Bluetooth version, numbered Z207 and sold 37 euros. It’s a little extra nice when needed.

Why choose the Logitech Z200?

  • A very small price
  • Logitech quality

Logitech Z906: for maximum immersion

If we often imagine the 5.1 kits reserved for the living room, this is not always the case. Logitech has been offering its Z906 kit for a long time.

Composed of 5 speakers and a subwoofer, this kit is also accompanied by a docking station which includes the connections. The latter consists of two optical inputs, one coaxial as well as RCA and traditional mini jack inputs. However, we regret the absence of an HDMI input which would have been practical for the most recent consoles.

From a purely sound point of view, things are quite satisfactory. The speakers look clean and detailed, with the added bonus of enough power to make walls shake when you turn up the volume.

If you want big sound for your PC (or your TV) without investing in a real home cinema kit with an amplifier, we couldn’t do better.

Why choose the Logitech Z200?

  • The power
  • Surround sound
  • The walls that shake and the neighbors who get angry

Before Buying PC Speakers

Why choose a PC speaker rather than a classic speaker?

Because they are designed to work with a PC. They usually have a more suitable form factor to sit on a desk and reduce clutter. Some speakers, generally high-end, plug directly into USB and also integrate their own DAC (digital / analog signal converter) to provide better sound quality. Finally, some, more gaming oriented, also have LED lighting.

Do i need a dedicated sound card?

Unlike wired headphones that are sometimes quite sensitive to the quality of your audio outputs, most speakers will be satisfied with the output integrated into your motherboard.

How did we make this selection?

To make our selection of the best PC speakers, we first based ourselves on the price criterion, but also on the size of the speakers, their aesthetics as well as certain technical specifications. If the audio quality is obviously important, we consider that it is a little more secondary on PC speakers, we therefore focused a little less on this point than for headphones for example. Please note that although we have not strictly tested all the products in this selection, we do know most of them. In case of doubt, we carry out a press review of various tests in order to be sure to offer you products that will not disappoint you.
