Acer is taking advantage of CES 2021 to unveil a new range of PC monitors. They are aimed above all at gamers, but with a nice upgrade in image quality.
Until a few years ago, a gaming display meant poorly calibrated colors, as manufacturers were all about refresh rate and low latency. However, gamers are not defined solely by their hobby and may also need a screen with a quality image for other occupations. With ever-increasing demand for high-end displays, manufacturers have been able to look into these features and that’s exactly what the new monitors unveiled by Acer at CES 2021 illustrate.
Acer Predator XB273U NX: 275 Hz with a DCI-P3 panel
The first Acer Predator monitor, soberly named XB273U NX, focuses on frame rate and image quality. Acer announces a rate of 275 Hz with a latency of only 0.5 ms (gray to gray) and compatibility with Nvidia Reflex Latency Analyzer to minimize the latency of the mouse click to the reaction to the screen.
The 27-inch IPS panel displays a definition of 2560 x 1440 pixels, the most popular on PC, with DisplayHDR 400 certification and an advertised coverage of 95% of the DCI-P3 spectrum. It is this last characteristic that lets us think that the screen should be suitable for professional uses. It will obviously be necessary to wait for a test to certify it.
We can see from the back that the screen is compatible with the VESA standard, but the included stand already allows quite advanced adjustment: pivot, rotation, tilt and height. This is also the case for the other screens presented at CES 2021.
This monitor will be available from May 2021 in Europe at an announced price of 1179 euros.
Acer Predator XB323QK NV: 4K definition at 144 Hz
If we go further upmarket, we come across the equally aptly named cousin XB323QK NV. If you know how to decipher Acer’s nomenclature, you will understand that this is a 32-inch screen, or 31.5 inches more precisely. To offer a beautiful image, it therefore increases the definition to 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 pixels, just to have a fine display of good quality.
The IPS panel rises this time to 144 Hz, which is more than enough for video game use, and retains solid arguments with 90% coverage of the DCI-P3 spectrum and DisplayHDR 400 certification.
The screen will be marketed in May 2021 in Europe from 1199 euros.
Acer Nitro XV282K KV: a 4K 144Hz display ideal for the PS5 and Xbox Series X
Contrary to popular belief, console gaming is not exclusive to the living room. You can play very well on a console connected to a PC screen. This is the audience for the Acer Nitro XV282K KV monitor. The brand highlights its 4K definition at 144 Hz and its compatibility with HDMI 2.1, guaranteeing the functioning of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X at the top of their capacities.
The IPS panel promises a contrast ratio of 100,000,000: 1, which is not usually reflected in press tests, and 90% coverage of the DCI-P3 spectrum. The display is also AMD FreeSync Premium certified with a response rate of 1ms.
The Acer Nitro XV282K KV is the cheapest of this batch with a price starting at 949 euros in Europe. The release is scheduled once again for the month of May 2021.
