Motorola would prepare a high-end smartphone with a 105 Hz refresh

Motorola is currently preparing the “nio”, its future high-end smartphone. It would have the distinction of being equipped with a panel with a refresh rate of 105 Hz.

For a little over a year, smartphone manufacturers have gone beyond the classic refresh rates of their screens, at 60 Hz. There are now smartphones with screens at 90, 120, or even 244 Hz in some cases. . For its part, it seems that Motorola has chosen a very particular rate, since one of its next smartphones could benefit from a refresh rate of 105 Hz.

This is in any case what emerges from the information of the editor-in-chief of XDA Developers, Mishaal Rahman. In a tweet published on Tuesday, he indicates that the American manufacturer is currently testing a rate of 105 Hz.

“I’ve never seen a smartphone or display with a default rate of 105Hz, so it might be something they’re testing, like Asus’ 160Hz mode on the ROG Phone 3”, he specifies. In this context, Motorola could therefore test a panel with a refresh rate of 105 Hz, but only offer a 90 Hz cap on the product once marketed.

A smartphone with high-end features

This original refresh rate is expected to be integrated into one of Lenovo’s next high-end smartphones, known for the time being by the code name « nio ». The smartphone would benefit from a 6.7-inch screen with a definition of 2520 x 1080 pixels and very curved borders. We would find a 5000 mAh battery, a Snapdragon 865 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and three devices on the back: a main wide-angle module (64 MP), an ultra-wide-angle module (16 MP) and a depth sensor (2 MP).

Based on these characteristics, it appears that the Motorola « nio » succeeds the Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge + launched earlier this year. The format – and in particular the curved edges – indeed seems to take that of the latest high-end models from the manufacturer. However, it will be necessary to wait a few more months before the officialization of this smartphone.
