Internet failure for some Free users: changing DNS will not help

Many Free subscribers encounter problems connecting to websites and services. According to our research, these are mainly websites and services that use AWS (Amazon Web Services) servers.

Friday, November 27, 2020 seems to be a cursed day for French internet service providers. After Orange, it is Free subscribers who have connection problems. A priori, this problem does not affect all Free users but it does affect many. What’s going on at Free?

Many websites and services seem inaccessible, especially those that pass through AWS servers (Amazon Web Services). Many well-known and widely used AWS services are affected by the outage, which is why you cannot – for example – log into Discord. According to our tests, changing DNS does not solve the current problem, it could be an interconnection issue.
