HarmonyOS 2.0 from April
Huawei’s new OS will take its first steps in April 2021, this is HarmonyOS 2.0 which has been available in beta test for a few weeks.
This statement took place during the opening of MWC 2021 where the Mate X2 was announced. It was Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei, who added at the end of the presentation that users will be able to switch to HarmonyOS from April, but only on certain devices: “Users of a Huawei flagship will be able to update their phones to HarmonyOS in April. The Huawei Mate X2 will be the first to be able to be updated […]. ».
The controversy around HarmonyOS 2.0 has swelled since the availability of the beta and its emulator for developers. This version is a fork Android 10 with EMUI 11, in other words: it is very close to Android EMUI. Huawei has nevertheless confirmed that the final version of HarmonyOS 2.0 would have a different interface from EMUI, without ever denying the similarities between its operating system and the Google OS.
HarmonyOS 2.0 will then be available on the Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro, Huawei Mate 30, Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Huawei MatePad Pro. The update will be like any software update via OTA.
