Yes, the WF-1000XM3 are still among the best wireless headphones in 2021. Some competitors are doing just as well, or even better, when we think for example of the Jabra Elite 85t, the Bose QC Earbuds or even the Apple AirPods Pro, but none of them today are as affordable as Sony’s solution.
These true wireless have in them the heritage of the excellent headphones of the same name and it is a force that has endured for almost 2 years now. They use the same active noise reduction technology, in a miniaturized way, for a result that is simply stunning. It’s not as convincing as with the WH-1000XM3, but these little earbuds are less annoying to wear on a daily basis. Via the application, it is possible to adjust the noise reduction according to different contexts with predefined modes if you are walking in the street or taking public transport.
The sound quality is also there, but we especially appreciate the many features of the Sony WF-1000XM3. For example, “Quick Attention” makes it possible to reduce the sound and hear the surrounding noises by a simple touch of the dedicated touch zone on the ear cups. Google Assistant is even natively integrated to perform voice commands without taking your smartphone out of your pocket. We regret, however, the absence of multipoint Bluetooth compatibility.
There is also wireless charging. The case is Qi certified and also offers a good battery life of around 24 hours according to the Sony. The Japanese manufacturer also specifies that the earpieces can hold independently for 6 hours with noise reduction activated and even more without. You’ll also appreciate the USB-C port to take advantage of fast charging if you don’t have an induction base.
