Bose has unveiled new true wireless headphones with an open format and an over-the-ear design, the Bose Sport Open Earbuds.
Clearly, if Bose is known for its noise reduction headphones, the American manufacturer seems to target a whole other market with its headphones. This Tuesday he presented a new pair of headphones true wireless dedicated to sport, the Bose Sport Open Earbuds.
As their name suggests, these new headphones are designed primarily for sports use. These are headphones true wireless with an over-the-ear format to ensure good support despite exercise or running. Moreover, the Bose Sport Open Earbuds are not in-ear headphones, but adopt an open-fit format.
This means that they are not equipped with tips that fit into the ear canal, but come to rest at the entrance to it. Concretely, they should offer low passive insulation, but will therefore allow users to hear their environment, particularly useful when running outdoors.
Headphones with physical controls
In terms of technical characteristics, the Bose Sport Open Earbuds measure 48 x 55 mm for a weight of 14 grams per earphone. They are IPX4 certified and are therefore protected against sweat and splashing. The headphones also feature an audio pickup system to make calls and isolate the voice from the rest of the sound environment while reducing wind noise pollution.
They are Bluetooth 5.1 compatible. Bose does not communicate on compatible Bluetooth audio codecs, but the manufacturer traditionally only offers AAC and SBC on its headphones and earphones. Finally, note that the Bose Sport Open Earbuds are controlled using physical buttons on the left and right.
The Bose Sport Open Earbuds are the third earphones true wireless dedicated to the manufacturer’s sport. It is with this use that the brand launched the Bose Soundsport Free in 2018. Recently, Bose launched other semi-intra headphones designed for physical activity, the Bose Sport Earbuds, unveiled at the same time as the Bose QC Earbuds.
The Bose Sport Open Earbuds are currently announced for the American market. They are available for pre-order in black version only at a price of 200 dollars, that is to say 162 euros HT. For now, the manufacturer has not communicated on a possible release in France.
