Pixel 4a: the best in photography in its category
The Pixel 4a offers thin borders all around the screen with the presence of a punch to hide a camera. The panel, OLED displaying a Full HD + definition, benefits from a good brightness, but the most pleasant remains its small diagonal of 5.8 inches which holds well in hand.
On the back, there is a rather responsive fingerprint sensor and, above all, the photo module. This is indeed the main asset of this Pixel 4a. Its 12 megapixel sensor with a lens opening at f / 1.7 and associated with an LED flash captures pictures that are simply remarkable for this price range. It does not enjoy great versatility, but many features are there to vary the pleasures, such as the pretty HDR mode, the excellent portrait mode or the incredible mode ” Night Sight Which allows you to take beautiful photos at night.
As for the rest of the spec sheet, the Pixel 4a is powered by a Snapdragon 730 with 6GB of RAM. It’s not as powerful as what the competition offers in the same price range, but it’s more than enough to enjoy a perfectly smooth user experience on a daily basis, with even the ability to run a few 3D games. You just don’t have to be too greedy, as for the autonomy which is below average with a battery of only 3,140 mAh.

The key points of the Pixel 4a
- A small 5.8-inch OLED display
- Beautiful photos, day and night
- Sufficient performance of the Snapdragon 730
Pixel 4a 5G: less compact, but 5G compatible
The Google Pixel 4a 5G retains the same sobriety as the classic version of the smartphone for its design. We find the same plain polycabornate back and the same OLED screen displaying Full HD + definition and stamped at the top left. However, the panel stretches this time to 6.24 inches and not 5.8, which results in a format a little less compact than the original 4a.
This a little more imposing size however has advantages, starting with the battery which goes from a capacity of 3,140 mAh to 3,800 mAh for the Pixel 4a 5G. A significant gain in autonomy, but this is not the only element of the technical sheet that has just changed. This 5G compatible smartphone embeds a powerful Snapdragon 765G instead of the 730, the same SoC as the Pixel 5, all supported by 6 GB of RAM.
This is not the only similarity with his big brother. On the back of the phone, we find the same photo module equipped with two sensors: a main one of 12 megapixels (photosites of 1.4 µm, f / 1.7 aperture and optical stabilization) and the other ultra wide-angle of 16 megapixels (107 degrees, 1 µm photosites, and f / 2.2 aperture). It then keeps the promise to do just as well as the Pixel 5 in the photo, but for less, with a mode Night Sight (night vision) for night portraits or even a mode Cinematic Pan for slow motion videos with dramatic effect.
The key points of the Pixel 4a 5G
- The power of the Snapdragon 765G
- The efficient Google Pixel 5 camera
- Improved autonomy compared to the classic 4a
Pixel 5: the high-end smartphone
Compared to other smartphones in the range, the Pixel 5 is the premium benchmark. It therefore incorporates features that the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G do not have, such as a 90 Hz refresh rate for its OLED screen. In addition, its small diagonal of 6 inches implies a very pleasant size in the hand.
The flagship of Google, however, does not want to claim the all-powerfulness of the most premium smartphones and decides to ship a Snapdragon 765G supported by 8 GB of RAM. On the one hand, so much the better, because the bill is less salty. The power is anyway already more than sufficient to meet all needs, even 3D games, and we also find compatibility with the 5G network.
Unsurprisingly, the Pixel 5 is obviously an excellent photophone. It is equipped with a very powerful 12 + 16 megapixel dual sensor, especially at night and to capture a moving target. It is simply the best for taking a photo of a pet or a child. Many modes are available to vary the pleasures, but we can not hide that it is a bit disappointing for selfies with its 8 megapixel sensor.
Google has also made efforts in terms of the autonomy of its high-end smartphone. The Pixel 5’s 4,080mAh battery can last a whole day or more. There is even an extreme energy saving mode that lets you choose which application is essential or not, everything else being paused. Enough to last up to 48 hours, according to the manufacturer.
