Huawei unveiled its Mate 40 range. There are four different versions, including the Porsche Design RS version. High-end design, additional camera, infrared thermometer … this Porsche Design RS has everything of a Mate 40 Pro + in GT version.
The Huawei Mate 40 is there with its Leica cameras and its Kirin 9000 chip. Like the last five years, Huawei has renewed its partnership with Porsche by designing a unique version of its flagship. Like the previous versions, it’s just as expensive and overkill.
Indeed, the Porsche Design RS has all the characteristics of the Mate 40 Pro +, which is already a version boosted of Mate 40 Pro, with some specificities.
Up to 100x digital zoom
Like the Mate 40 Pro +, it relies on a set of five cameras that again use a circular layout. As the main camera, you will find a 50 megapixel Ultravision sensor with a wide-angle lens (23 mm) with an f / 1.9 aperture.
We then find ultra wide-angle (18 mm equivalent, 20 megapixels, f / 1.8), a 12 megapixel telephoto camera (70 mm equivalent, 12 megapixels, f / 2.4) and a camera dedicated to depth of field to create awesome bokeh effects in your photos. The difference with the Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro is the presence of a fifth sensor equipped with an equivalent 240 mm lens (8 megapixels, f / 4.4). This corresponds to 10x zoom according to Huawei, with the possibility of zooming up to 100x in digital zoom.
An infrared sensor and a ceramic shell
An infrared (IR) sensor is also used to detect a temperature between -20 and +100 degrees Celsius. We are not talking about a transmitter here, to change the channel on your TV, but rather a sensor. This therefore makes it possible to aim at an object to know its temperature, like thermal cameras.
This Porsche Design RS also highlights the craftsmanship of Porsche, in the words of the brand manager who spoke during the brand conference, this means that a big effort has been made around its design. In addition to a unique pattern on the outer shell, the finishes of this shell are ceramic, a material more resistant than glass, in white or black.
As explained above, this Huawei Porsche Design RS is sold at 2295 euros (12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage) … an excessive price for a model which will be produced in a limited quantity for fans of the brand. Porsche.
And a Porsche Design watch!
Huawei also unveiled a unique model of its Watch GT 2 Pro connected watch. The latter, simply named Porsche Design Huawei Watch GT 2, sports a sapphire glass front, a titanium case and a ceramic back. It is therefore a more resistant and more stylish version of the classic Watch GT 2 Pro.
Porsche Design is also responsible for a series of exclusive dials that you can only find on this version. While you have to pay 299 euros for the GT 2 Pro, this luxury variant will be sold at a price of 695 euros.
