Audi has formalized the Q6 e-tron project: this electric SUV will be launched in the course of 2022 and will be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform.
The German brand Audi is slowly but surely consolidating its electric catalog. The latter recently welcomed the splendid e-tron GT, accompanied a little earlier by the Q4 Sportback e-tron in coupe version, also beautiful. In 2022, another new kid should join the party: the Audi Q6 e-tron.
A technical cousin of the electric Macan
This upcoming electric SUV will be based on the new platform Premium Platform Electric (PPE), tells us the British site Coach. The latter will result in both top-of-the-range and large-sized models from the Audi brands, but also Porsche, both subsidiaries of the Volkswagen group.
The Audi Q6 e-tron will be manufactured in Ingolstadt, an industrial site where the manufacturer is erecting a new battery production plant to meet the growing demand – at least according to their expectations – for electric vehicles. The SUV should also share the same technical basis of the future plugged-in Macan, expected for 2021 or 2022.
Ultra fast charge
Always after Coach, the PPE architecture will give pride of place to fast charging with assumed powers of up to 350 kW. The Audi Q6 e-tron should also benefit from an RS version, a badge awarded to faster variants. That of the vehicle could offer a horsepower of 590 hairs, although this information should be taken with a grain of salt at the time of this writing.
