Here is the Oppo X 2021. As expected, its manufacturer unveiled it today during its “Inno Day” conference on Tuesday. This smartphone has the particularity of having a scrollable OLED screen allowing to go from a display diagonal of 6.7 to 7.4 inches.

However, don’t think of this Oppo X 2021 as a finished product. It is above all a concept serving as a technological showcase for the Chinese brand. The idea is above all to show the innovations that the company wants to inject into the smartphone market.

The Oppo X 2021 will most likely never be released in this form or under this name. However, its scrolling screen technology could concretely see the light of day in the medium term on other smartphones. Competitor Vivo applies the same strategy with its Apex concepts.

No creases on the screen

This device has a significant advantage over conventional folding smartphones. It does not suffer from any crease in the center of the screen since this part of the panel always remains very flat. This is due to the presence of two internal motors which allow the display area to be extended by evenly distributing the force on each side of the Oppo X 2021.

For screen resistance, Oppo highlights in-house technology Warp Track to reinforce the OLED panel with a laminate coating. Part of this protective layer is located below the screen. However, the manufacturer does not give more details on the materials used.

For users, Oppo explains that such a smartphone would make it possible to enjoy more of the content displayed, provided obviously that the developers play the game and adjust their applications to this expandable screen.
