In the Android smartphone market, the OPPO brand stands out with increasingly competitive terminals. With the Reno4 Pro released on October 22, the company intends to hit hard by offering us a real concentrate of new technologies.
It only took a few years for OPPO in the French market to be recognized as one of the most innovative brands. We still remember the OPPO Find X and its futuristic design with sliding screen. A few weeks ago, the brand unveiled its new range of Reno4 smartphones, of which the OPPO Reno4 Pro is the spearhead.
This new OPPO phone thus brings together several innovations in terms of design, photography and fast charging. It is also equipped with the already proven Snapdragon 765G processor which also offers compatibility with the 5G network.
An immersive screen foolproof
The successful design of the OPPO Reno4 Pro is the first thing that stands out. The phone is thin (7.6 mm), light (172 grams) and benefits from a large screen which covers 92.1% of the front panel. This measures 6.5 inches, with a definition of 1080 x 2400 pixels for a density of 402 pixels per inch.
OPPO has chosen a 90Hz AMOLED panel for its Reno4 Pro, and that’s great news. First of all, this refresh rate strikes a good balance between super smooth scrolling and battery saving. Then, the AMOLED panel offers very good brightness, measured at 780 cd / m2 during our test. Concretely, this screen is perfectly readable even during exposure to the sun.
On the left as on the right, the slab is curved and conforms to the aluminum frame. The result is a pleasant grip. The top and bottom borders are reduced to a minimum. Moreover, for the front camera, OPPO has opted for a punch positioned at the top right. The module is discreet and blends easily with the rest of the display.
A rear facade of the most beautiful effect
On the back, the Reno4 Pro has a rectangular photo module with rounded edges made up of three sensors. There is also a matt frosted glass back. The whole thing offers a truly premium aspect.
Regarding the colors, the OPPO Reno4 Pro is available in Galactic Blue or Space Black. The Galactic Blue color reveals several shades of the most beautiful effect depending on the angle with which we observe the phone. In addition, the back cover does not catch any fingerprints thanks to an oleophobic coating.
OPPO is introducing a third variant this month: Green Glitter. This color was developed in partnership with Pantone exclusively for the OPPO Reno4 Pro. If you are looking for a unique smartphone, this color will undoubtedly suit you!
A mastered photo block
The OPPO company has filed no less than 1,800 technological patents just for photography. One of the novelties brought by the OPPO Reno4 Pro is its triple photo sensor with laser autofocus for each of the sensors. This technology allows fast and precise focusing, even in poor light conditions.
The photo block is therefore made up of three sensors, the composition of which is:
- 48-megapixel main sensor with f / 1.7 aperture
- 12-megapixel f / 2.2 aperture sensor with ultra-wide-angle lens
- 13-megapixel f / 2.4 aperture sensor with telephoto lens
A relatively classic configuration, but which has the advantage of being more versatile. It is also at ease to capture shots of landscapes, architecture or to take portraits thanks to the different focal lengths. The main sensor also benefits from a four-pixel-in-one aggregation technology. This allows on the one hand to bring more finesse to the shots, to reduce noise in a shaded environment, but more generally also to capture more light.
Lined with algorithms and artificial intelligence, this photo block also offers two night modes: Ultra Night and Total Night. These two modes make it possible to capture shots during the evenings with little or no light.
On the video side, the OPPO Reno4 Pro benefits from an optical stabilization which is welcome since it avoids transcribing all the inevitable tremors when holding the device in your hand. It is possible to capture videos in 4K (30 frames per second), Full HD 1080p (up to 60 frames per second) or 720p (up to 60 frames per second).
The OPPO Reno4 Pro also allows recording of particularly detailed slow motion – slow motion – videos with support for 1080p (at 120 frames per second) or 720p (240 frames per second).
Ultra fast recharging
The OPPO Reno4 Pro does not have one, but two 2000 mAh batteries with a more than satisfactory autonomy. Especially since the battery can be saved thanks to the adaptive refresh rate of the screen to automatically juggle between 60 Hz and 90 Hz. The Reno4 Pro also has a very efficient energy saving mode.
But we especially appreciate the ultra-fast charging that OPPO masters perfectly. Thus, the OPPO Reno4 Pro benefits from the SuperVOOC 2.0 technology at 65 watts which allows to go from 0 to 80% of battery in just 21 minutes. In barely half an hour, a completely flat smartphone is fully charged.
The OPPO Reno4 Pro is available for sale
With its 5G compatibility, its bright and fluid AMOLED screen and its photo versatility, the OPPO Reno4 Pro has everything of a large smartphone. Marketed for a few weeks in France, it is offered at a price of 799 euros at all good e-merchants such as Darty or Boulanger.
