Fortunately, no casualties have yet been identified, other than the affected server centers.

The impact of the fire on OVH servers

Octave Klaba, boss of the company OVHCloud, took the floor on Twitter to inform about the state of the server centers located in Strasbourg.

He begins by announcing the total destruction of SBG2. Part of SBG1 has also been affected, and SBG4 is completely out of danger.

If you rent a server in one of these centers, OVHCloud obviously recommends setting up your backup solutions, and in particular its own OVHCloud Disaster Recovery service.

Update 7:20am
Fire is over. Firefighters continue to cool the buildings with the water.
We don’t have the access to the site. That is why SBG1, SBG3, SBG4 won’t be restarted today.

Obviously, it also confirms that SBG1, SBG3 and SBG4 cannot be restarted by OVHCloud today. It will be necessary to wait for the company to make its diagnosis, and very likely to begin repair work.

As a reminder, OVHCloud has data centers in many other regions of the world: Paris, Gravelines and Roubaix in France, but also London, Singapore and Sidney abroad.
