5G offers “at the right price” in the coming weeks

Free Mobile promises to launch its 5G offerings in the coming weeks and wants to stay true to its story.

5G is here! After a false start on November 18, it was finally SFR which was the first to launch its 5G offers in Nice. Unsurprisingly, the operator with the red square displays offers that more or less align with those of its competitors who have already revealed their prices, namely Orange and Bouygues Telecom. Remain Free, still silent for the moment on this subject.

Simple and generous offers

Thomas Reynaud, CEO of the Iliad Group (parent company of Free), was the guest of BFM Business on Wednesday November 18 and spoke at the microphone of Hedwige Chevrillon. He thus revealed that we should not wait very long for 5G since Free will ” launch 5G in the coming weeks », Giving hope for an operational service – at least in certain places – from December.

Regarding prices, Thomas Reynaud did not wish to detail his future catalog, but promises that Free will remain “true to its history“. Remember that historically, Free has always pulled prices down by adopting a position of white knight fighting against other operators.

He thus promises offers “simple, understandable by subscribers, generous in terms of Gigabytes […] and at the right price ».

Businesses in the crosshairs

Of course, Free has spent 602 million euros for 5G frequencies and will have to spend much more to install its network. If Thomas Reynaud seems to be saying half-heartedly that Free is not going to align itself wisely with its competitors to remain faithful to its history, these massive investments will perhaps be amortized in another way: thanks to companies.

In 2021, Free’s strategic initiative is therefore to come “address the business market more effectively ». « Our next challenge is to launch our offers for SMEs, very small businesses […] always with the same principles: a shock of simplicity, innovations and this permanent concern for the right price», Adds Thomas Reynaud.

It remains to be seen whether Free will succeed in relaunching a new price war and making 5G packages very accessible withdataunlimited.
