19 minutes to recharge 4000 mAh

Xiaomi continues to make progress in the field of wireless charging. This Monday, the group unveils a new 80W charger capable of recharging, by induction, 4000 mAh in just 19 minutes watch in hand.

After the 40 W wireless recharges in March, and 50 W in August, introduced in particular with the Mi 10 Ultra, Xiaomi is now relying on 80 W with a record recharge time. Soberly called 80 W Mi Wireless Charging, this new technology is capable of inductively recharging a 4000 mAh battery “ at 10% in 1 minute, 50% in 8 minutes and 100% in just 19 minutes “, Assures Xiaomi in a statement sent to the French press this Sunday evening.

A giant leap taken according to the brand, which recalls that its 30 W recharge (launched last year) required approximately 25 minutes to recharge a battery of similar capacity to 50%, and 69 minutes to reach 100%. XDADevelopers Note that the 50W recharge, already very powerful, for its part allowed to charge a 4500 mAh battery to 100% in 40 minutes.

This new 80 W charging represents Xiaomi’s third breakthrough in wireless charging, and this in the year 2020 alone. A lightning advance that could quite lead to new technological advances in the coming months, while the Chinese brand stubbornly continues to beat its own records in this field.

As XDADevelopers points out, however, it is unclear whether this 80W wireless charging is ready for mass production. The fact that Xiaomi already offers support for 50 W wireless charging on the Mi 10 Ultra (in addition to 120 W wired charging) is nevertheless a clue. The 80 W wireless could be part of a future smartphone. It remains to be seen whether this increase in power will not ultimately have a negative impact on the longevity of the batteries.
